EastEnders David Wicks star’s forgotten role on rival soap as he returns to Walford

In addition to his roles in Casualty and Holby City, Michael French is coming back to EastEnders as David Wicks, a figure who is expected to sow mayhem in Walford.

In EastEnders, Michael French, as the renowned David Wicks, is about to make a spectacular comeback to Albert Square.

David’s return is certain to ignite the drama in Walford, as Cindy Beale and Bianca Jackson are stunned by his presence. The turn of events?

David thought Cindy was dead, but it turns out that the tale about her dying during childbirth was a hoax and that she has been alive the entire time, hidden away under witness protection. She even started a new life and had two children with George Knight.

Bianca has returned to the scene as well, supporting Sonia following her false accusations that she was Reiss’ partner Debbie—a crime that Reiss himself actually committed. According to the Mirror, David is stepping into a real disaster.

Having portrayed Nick Jordan in both Casualty and its sister series Holby City, Michael is no stranger to high-stakes plots. From 1998 to 2000, he appeared in the medical drama for the first time. From 2006 to 2013, he made a stunning comeback to Casualty.

Nick took over as the Clinical Lead of the Emergency Department in 2008 while strutting his stuff on Holby City, but he left alongside Yvonne Rippon following the Holby riots. In 2013, he made a brief comeback before handing the reins to Zoe Hanna.

There will undoubtedly be chaos because Michael’s EastEnders character is getting ready for a new chapter in the soap opera almost 31 years after he made his debut.

Michael French said upon his return to EastEnders: “I’m honored to be invited to play David Wicks again. Even though David’s stay will only be brief, we already know from his past that he can produce a lot of drama in a short amount of time.”

“David Wicks is unquestionably one of EastEnders’ most beloved rogues, and we are thrilled to welcome the talented Michael French back to the legendary role as we lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary,” teased Chris Clenshaw, executive producer of EastEnders. Drama was never David’s weak point in his past roles, and I promise that this comeback won’t be any different.”

With David’s return expected to revive his long-standing rivalry with stepbrother Ian Beale—who recently rekindled his romance with ex Cindy—the stage is set for a dramatic showdown in Walford. Tensions will undoubtedly increase when Ian learns that Cindy’s ex-boyfriend is back in the city.

History indicates that David’s presence frequently precedes mayhem, so it’s possible that his return will usher in a new era of unrest on Walford’s streets.
