Should walls had the ability to speak…
After seeing the home, Carla is thinking about putting in an offer on the storied Coronation Street Platt house.
David attempted to dissuade Carla, a prospective buyer, from purchasing the family’s three-bed house by stating that the plumbing would frequently malfunction.
She didn’t buy that, but there are a number of other things that could make her reconsider. No. 8 has seen a lot, from sinkholes to a corpse buried beneath the house.
1. Coronation Street Platt house: David pushes Gail down the stairs
The nightmare on Coronation Street began when Gail nearly died again not long after Richard Hillman tried to murder her and the children by trying to gas her.
David shoved Gail down the stairs in No. 8 in March 2008. When he learned that Gail had convinced his girlfriend Tina McIntyre to abort his pregnant child, he became angry.
Although Gail was lucky to live, the episode pointed to a series of odd happenings in the residence. David was placed in a juvenile detention facility after entering a guilty plea to multiple counts of assault and criminal damage while on the loose.
2. Coronation Street Platt house: A body is buried under the house
Max’s biological father instigated yet another painful incident in the home in September 2015.
The family had multiple problems with Callum Logan, Kylie Platt’s ex-boyfriend and Sarah Platt’s boyfriend. He was a narcotics dealer who gave the Platts constant anxiety.
Kylie struck him over the head and killed him. When he saw her recording a confession from him, she entered the room just as he was assaulting Sarah. David received a lot of abuse from his gang member pals after this.
David and Kylie were at a loss for what to do, so they hid his body in a manhole that was later covered in concrete because of remodeling work. Up until he was discovered, no one knew he resided downstairs.
Eight months after Tyrone Dobbs was killed in May 2016, he swerved and collided with Carla’s car, hitting No. 8. Gail’s annex floor was completely demolished as a result.
Police found Callum’s corpse the following morning after it was discovered. Police arrested them all, but they managed to avoid punishment by placing the blame on the late Tony Stewart.
Is Carla ready to be put off yet?
3. The sinkhole
Not only has No. 8 hosted a number of dreadful Weatherfield inhabitants—think murderer Stephen and Gail’s multiple husbands—but it also experienced a natural tragedy.
A massive sinkhole appeared in No. 8’s garden a few years ago. Dodgy Ray Crosby made the crater in an effort to persuade the Platts to sell up so he could construct a hotel on a shoestring.
The hole was attempted to be filled multiple times, but in vain. Before catastrophe happened, a large storm eventually caused the hole to reopen.
During the horrifying incident, Jenny Bradley and Johnny Connor were washed beneath. Following a series of heartbreaking moments, Johnny was eventually washed beneath the sinkhole and perished in the sewers.
The sinkhole continues to be a nagging concern for the family, coming up now and again.
Would Carla be able to walk away from the house after reading this? We’ll just have to watch and see.
