This Christmas, things may take a turn for the worse for one couple as the show teases a dramatic storyline for Shona (played by Julia Goulding). She is caught lying to her partner David to conceal a secret, with hints that a possible cheating scandal could unfold. However, the ITV soap is keeping details under wraps for the festive season.
Tensions are already rising between the once-solid couple, as Shona learns that David (Jack P. Shepherd) has been secretly communicating with her son Clayton (Callum Harrison) in prison without her knowledge.
According to Coronation Street spoilers, Shona will soon uncover the truth about David’s secret contact with Clayton and his dishonesty. Overwhelmed by the revelation, she chooses to spend a night away from the Platts’ household—a decision she later regrets.
After returning, Shona opens up to her boss, Roy Cropper (David Neilson), admitting that she made a mistake during her time away from her family—one she deeply regrets.
Later, tensions rise at home when David becomes irritated with Shona and asks her to sleep on the sofa so he can have the bedroom to himself. Left alone downstairs, Shona receives a cryptic text message, which David remains unaware of as he is upstairs.
The storyline will jump ahead slightly, showing Shona standing outside an unfamiliar hotel room. It’s unclear who she is meeting, but the encounter seems significant—could she be unfaithful to David?
On her way home, Shona narrowly avoids being hit by a car, leaving her with a badly injured arm. Trying to keep it a secret, she sneaks back into No. 8 and doesn’t tell David where she’s been. When questioned, she lies, saying she fell down the stairs during the night, resulting in a broken arm in two places.
Later in the week, Shona admits the truth to Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), revealing that she was nearly hit by a car. This incident ties into Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney), whose car is stolen around the same time.
Shona’s troubles escalate when David discovers her torn and bloodied jacket in the bin outside. When he confronts her, she sticks to her story, insisting the damage happened during her supposed fall down the stairs.
Producer Kate Brooks has hinted that Shona and David’s marriage will face significant challenges in the coming weeks, with tensions reaching a peak around Christmas. Shona is expected to engage in increasingly self-destructive behavior.
