New Corrie stars tease what’s to come for their characters
Farrel Hegarty, who plays Lou, shared her excitement about joining Coronation Street, saying: “I’m so thrilled and grateful to be part of the cast. The warmth and kindness from everyone has truly amazed me.”
She described her character as an exciting one to portray, saying, “Lou has both good and bad sides; she’s a lively, vibrant character full of energy. She loves to stir things up and create chaos, but she also has strong family loyalty, especially with Mick. They’re incredibly close and will always have each other’s backs, even when they probably shouldn’t…”
Joe Layton, who portrays Mick, also expressed his excitement: “Coronation Street is such an iconic part of British TV, and walking down the cobbles as Mick is a dream come true. Working with Farrel has been fantastic – we’re having a great time together as we develop our characters.”
He added, “It’s incredible to be a part of this massive production and see how it all works behind the scenes. Everyone here takes so much pride in their work, and it’s such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I’m really looking forward to every moment of it.”
Mick and Lou Michaelis’ arrival onto Coronation Street
Mick and Lou are set to become Chesney and Gemma’s ‘nightmare neighbours,’ with Lou making her first appearance on February 12. She’ll recognize Gemma as a mum from Bessie Street.
On February 14, Mick, Lou’s partner, will make his debut, and Chesney will be unaware that Mick is the man behind the silver van that’s been causing him trouble.
While both couples will eventually form a friendship, it turns out that Mick and Lou have a surprising connection to one of the family members—Kit Green. They share a history with him, and this leads to them uncovering a massive secret of his.
Producer Kate Brooks teased, “Chaotic and loud, Mick and Lou will make their mark on Weatherfield, stirring up complete havoc for the residents of Coronation Street.”
“Their relationship is far from stable, but at the core, there’s an unshakable loyalty to family, and anyone who dares to come between them will regret it. While they’re the life of the party, they’re also not for everyone, and they quickly become involved in some intense drama.
“We’re excited to welcome these new characters to the show, and with them around, things on the cobbles are definitely going to get a lot more lively.”
