Coronation Street legend slams ITV after Gino D’Acampo allegations exposed

A former Coronation Street star has criticized ITV for “crucifying” TV chef Gino D’Acampo over the allegations, blaming the network’s “new woke agenda.”

A former Coronation Street star has slammed ITV over the allegations against celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo, who has been accused of being “distressing” and “sexually inappropriate” for over a decade.

Gino has denied the accusations, but that hasn’t stopped other celebrities from weighing in on the controversy. Actress Vicky Entwistle, who left Weatherfield and her role as Janice Battersby 13 years ago, posted a photo of Gino on social media, stating: “I don’t know this man personally, so I have no reason to stick my neck out in his defense.”

She went on to criticize: “BUT!!! ITV used that man for everything he was worth… cheeky, naughty, foreign, hilarious!!! It all worked a decade ago… now, with their new WOKE agenda, they’re crucifying him?!?!”

The ITV News investigation revealed multiple accusers, with one woman alleging that during a shoot, Gino remarked he would “like to turn me over and have sex with me against the kitchen counter.”

Another person described feeling uncomfortable when Gino showed up in his boxers and made crude jokes about his private parts while preparing for a shoot.

Gino has strongly denied allegations of inappropriate behavior, including a claim that he threatened a junior staff member on his show Gino’s Italian Express. A female crew member accused him of saying: “If you don’t get me a Cornetto, I will f*** your girlfriend.” However, Gino has “firmly denied” these allegations, according to OK! reports.

In a statement to ITV News, Gino said: “I have been informed by ITN News that allegations have been made about my conduct, some going back over ten years. I was never made aware of these matters before, and I firmly deny the allegations. I would never do anything I believed would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognize the version of events being presented to me.”

“These allegations have never been brought to my attention before. I have consistently received support from top executives, and was commissioned for prime-time shows during the period in which it’s now claimed I behaved inappropriately. As a father and husband, I have worked with more than 1,500 people across nearly 80 productions in my career, a career I’m incredibly proud of. I take these matters very seriously, and the suggestion that I’ve acted inappropriately is deeply upsetting.”
