Coronation Street star Katherine Kelly’s life since Becky McDonald soap exit

Coronation Street fans were thrilled during Wednesday’s episode when Becky McDonald received a mention.

Coronation Street viewers were ecstatic when beloved icon Becky McDonald was referenced in Wednesday’s episode, sparking excitement among soap fans.

The tension had been building earlier in the week when it was revealed that Max Turner was behind the devastating fire at the Platt home, endangering multiple characters—including himself.

After CCTV footage revealed the arsonist wearing a recognizable hoodie, Shona Platt quickly realized it was the one she had gifted Max for Christmas.

By Wednesday, the police had their forensic gloves on the hoodie discovered in the trash and moved in to arrest Max. However, he made a run for it before they could take him into custody.

The surprises didn’t stop there, as it was revealed that Shona and David Platt had devised a plan to secretly get Max out of town to help him avoid a possible prison sentence, according to Lancs Live.

Becky’s wild ride on the street included a stormy marriage to Steve McDonald, but she bid adieu to Weatherfield in 2012, flying out to Barbados after settling scores with rival Tracy Barlow and her ex Steve.

Becky is Max’s aunt, as her sister Kylie Platt, who was Max’s mother, tragically passed away in 2016. This left Max and Lily Platt under the care of David.

Becky’s eventful time on the cobbles saw her in a turbulent marriage with Steve McDonald before she made her exit in 2012, jetting off to Barbados after getting revenge on her nemesis, Tracy Barlow, and former husband, Steve.

As Max’s aunt, Becky has a close connection to him—her late sister, Kylie Platt, was Max’s mother. Following Kylie’s tragic passing in 2016, Max and Lily Platt were left in David’s care.

Since leaving Coronation Street in 2012, Katherine Kelly, who played Becky, has built a thriving acting career, securing major roles in various hit BBC and ITV dramas.

The 45-year-old actress went on to portray Lady Mae Loxley in Mr Selfridge, DI Jodie Shackleton in Happy Valley, and The Permanent Secretary in The Night Manager. She also starred as Leah Dale in Cheat, Elizabeth Sutherland in Gentleman Jack, and DI Karen Renton in Liar.

More recently, Katherine has appeared as Vicki in Ruby Speaking, Angela van Den Bogerd in Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Lynne in Inside No. 9, DCI Hannah Wheatley in Protection, and Sophia Craven in The Crow Girl.
