EastEnders star Danny Dyer reveals how Mick Carter could’ve returned for 40th

EastEnders recently aired a dramatic Queen Vic fire for its 40th anniversary, with the build-up to this major event featuring returns from Nigel Bates and Grant Mitchell.

Fans were hoping that Danny Dyer’s Mick Carter would also be part of this celebration, but things turned out differently.

As viewers know, Mick has been “missing” and “presumed dead” since Christmas Day 2022, when he disappeared into the sea and was never seen again.

However, on this week’s Late Late Show, Danny revealed that he would have been open to returning for the soap’s milestone event, but he was never asked.

He shared: “I get asked a lot if I’m going back, and honestly, I would have come back if they’d asked me, but they didn’t ask me.

“I think they’re a bit upset with me now, not sure why!”

EastEnders 40th anniversary

In February, the BBC soap marked a significant milestone, celebrating 40 years since it first aired.

The soap featured a devastating fire at The Queen Vic, resulting in the deaths of both Reiss Colwell and Martin Fowler.

Reiss met his tragic end in a bathtub, while Martin died during the live episode, his legs crushed by a large piece of metal.

During this dramatic week, Sonia Fowler also gave birth to a baby girl named Julia while trapped in the collapsing pub.

Now, the residents of Walford are grappling with the aftermath of these shocking events. Can the community come together and support one another in the Square’s time of need?
