EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison, known for portraying Heather Trott on the BBC One soap from 2007 to 2012, has been facing financial difficulties since her character’s death on the show.

EastEnders actress Cheryl Fergison, 60, has opened up about her financial struggles. She portrayed Heather Trott on the BBC soap from 2007 to 2012, until her character was tragically killed off by Ben Mitchell. Recently, she secured a new role in the BBC comedy series Mandy.
Cheryl Fergison has revealed that she was left with no choice but to rely on a food bank and benefits due to financial difficulties, which made it hard for her to afford food. She even sold old EastEnders scripts in an effort to make ends meet.
Cheryl has shared that she is “just surviving” and is accepting work without pay. In an interview with Casino.org for The Sun, she explained, “My health is fine, but it will take a long time for my finances to recover.”

“Until I secure consistent work, I’m not wealthy or comfortable—I’m just getting by. I’ve been accepting every opportunity without pay, but it’s time to start valuing my work and requesting fair compensation. My agent encourages me to do so as well.
“That said, I’ll never give up. I want to continue singing. If people criticize me for performing in smaller venues, so be it. Ultimately, I’m an entertainer. The sense of community has always been important to me, and I will perform, no matter the size of the audience.”

She mentioned that she doesn’t mind if “only two people show up” because she’s still getting paid and will give it her all. Cheryl emphasized that no one should be judged for trying to “get back on their feet” and added that she’s working her way back up.
It seems like things are looking up for her as she recently discussed her return to the BBC and other upcoming projects. In a TikTok video, she told her fans: “I’ve been packing and getting ready for London next week. I’ll be working on a little secret project.
“After that, I’ll be filming for the BBC. Then, I’ll be working with the wonderful Groove Chorus at The Clapham Ground on the 21st and 22nd.”
