In last night’s episode of EastEnders (Tuesday, February 18), Kathy was revealed as the person who attacked Cindy Beale after months of suspense.

While Cindy had previously blamed Ian for the attack at Christmas, Kathy set the record straight.

However, did Kathy really commit the act? Fans are questioning whether she was actually the one wielding that shovel…

In last night’s EastEnders, Cindy confronted the person who had taken her locket, pointing a gun at Ian Beale.

Ian denied taking the locket, assuring her that he wasn’t the one who attacked her at Christmas. He suggested that Peter might have been responsible instead.

Kathy then entered and saw Ian being threatened with the gun. She quickly intervened and admitted that she was the one who attacked Cindy, adding that her only regret was not finishing the job. She also stated that Cindy didn’t deserve to keep Lucy’s locket.

A struggle ensued between Cindy and Ian over the gun, and as Cindy threatened to call the police, Ian was shot in the arm.

Outside, Ian made Cindy an offer, begging her to leave Walford, but Cindy shoved him in front of Reiss’ car, narrowly missing being hit.

Despite Kathy admitting to attacking Cindy, fans remain unconvinced. Many believe that Kathy’s confession was a strategy to prevent Cindy from shooting Ian and that she’s covering for the real attacker.

One fan commented, “Why do I feel like Kathy didn’t actually try to kill Cindy? She couldn’t even handle ‘The Six’ without falling apart, so I doubt she could secretly kill someone. Maybe Bobby’s back for revenge?”

Another fan added, “I’m not buying it. There has to be more to this. I think Kathy is covering for someone.”

A third viewer speculated, “Kathy might be protecting Peter. After all, why would Ian mention him if it wasn’t true? Tonight’s episode is going to be intense!”
