With Lois’s secrets on the verge of being exposed, she will need some support, and what better time for her mother to return for a visit? Soap Opera Digest reports that Ellen Travolta is returning to General Hospital to reprise her role as Gloria Cerullo, and her appearance will air this week.
The actress, known for being the older sister of John Travolta, has appeared in classic sitcoms like Happy Days, Joanie Loves Chachi, Makin’ It, and Charles in Charge. She first appeared on GH in the mid-’90s when Gloria disapproved of her daughter’s relationship with Ned Ashton, who was then performing as rocker Eddie Maine. Travolta returned to the role in November 2023 for Thanksgiving and again in May 2024 for Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding.

“Lois’ return wouldn’t have felt complete to me if Ellen didn’t make occasional appearances as well,” Rena Sofer (Lois) shared with Digest. “I’m so glad that she plays such an important role in this storyline. And, to be honest, Ellen is like my adoptive mother — in my heart and mind — so any time spent with her feels like a gift.”
Lois is certainly going to need her mother’s support now that the secrets about Brook Lynn’s baby are beginning to surface. But will Gloria side with Brook Lynn in this conflict? Or maybe she’s known all along that Gio is the child Brook Lynn gave up all those years ago and helped Lois arrange the adoption?
You’ll have to stay tuned to see what twists and surprises are in store, as it’s sure to be an exciting ride!
