It’s been two months since General Hospital star Cameron Mathison (Drew) experienced the heartbreaking loss of his family home in the devastating wildfires that swept through Southern California. While the actor has thankfully found a new place to live, he lost everything in the fire — including irreplaceable keepsakes from his children, Lucas and Leila, as well as cherished mementos from his childhood and career. As he settles into his new home and begins the process of rebuilding, Mathison has reached out to his fans and friends for help in recovering some of the precious memories he lost.
On March 9, Mathison shared a heartfelt video message with his Instagram followers from a balcony in London, where he is visiting his son Lucas at college. “Dear friends, I’m on a mission to rebuild a lifetime of memories that were lost in the fire—please share any photos you have of me and the family from over the years,” Mathison, also known for playing Ryan on All My Children, wrote in the caption. “I’d be so grateful if you could pass this request along to anyone else who knows me, so I can piece back together the moments that mean so much!”
In the video, Mathison shared a list of key life moments for which he’s hoping to recover photos. “If you’ve known me throughout my life,” he began, “and have any pictures from my elementary school, middle school, high school, college, playing basketball at McGill [University], my modeling years, world travels, early All My Children days, and the birth of Lucas and Leila… please check the caption below for instructions on how to scan and email them. It would mean so much to me. I lost all of that, we all did, in the fire.”
The General Hospital star went on to explain that his ex-wife, Vanessa, and friends were working on restoring a family photo album, as were their children. “But I thought I’d put out a request here on Instagram for myself,” he continued. “It’s so strange having no physical reminders of your life, including photos, and getting those back would truly mean the world to me.”
