Helen departed from the soap in 2018.
Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has exclusively shared with ED! that she would “absolutely love to return” to the ITV soap that made her a household name.
Now 34, Helen first stepped into the role of Rosie Webster in January 2000 at just nine years old. Over the years, fans watched her character face dramatic storylines, from being kidnapped by John Stape to getting caught up in a drug scandal and feuding with her younger sister, Sophie Webster.
But how would she like Rosie to make her comeback after all this time? Keep reading to find out…

*Helen Flanagan Hopes for a *Coronation Street* Comeback*
After spending 12 years on the soap, Helen bid farewell to Coronation Street in 2012, only to return for a brief stint in 2017. A year later, she left again for maternity leave, leaving fans wondering if Rosie would ever make another return.
In an exclusive interview with ED!, Helen revealed that she would “absolutely love to come back to the show.” She shared: “The show really did change my life. It opened up so many opportunities for me.”
“It would make a lot of sense for me to return. I’d love to do it. Especially now that I’m back home. I’ve always moved around because my ex was a footballer, and we’d relocate every three to four years. But I’ve been back in Bolton for about four years now, which is just a short distance from Manchester. I’d definitely love to stay in Manchester, and if I were to reprise my role as Rosie, it would be perfect. But you never know,” Helen said, speaking on behalf of the WhichBingo Awards.
‘I think Rosie should return with two kids’
If Helen had the chance to choose Rosie’s next storyline, she would love to see her character return as a mother—but not just any typical mom.
“I think she should come back with two kids and leave them with Sally while she goes off to do her own thing,” she shared with ED!
Helen also expressed an interest in seeing Rosie become a barmaid. “I’d definitely love Rosie to work at the Rovers Return—I’d love to be an iconic barmaid there.”
She continued, “It would be interesting to see her in a new relationship and explore how that might play out. As an actress, I now have a lot more life experience at 34, and I’d love to see Rosie in a different kind of relationship, one I could really sink my teeth into.”

‘I miss the excitement’
Since leaving Coronation Street, Helen has remained a familiar face on television, from competing on I’m a Celebrity… South Africa to appearing on Celebs Go Dating. However, the “excitement” of being part of the iconic Corrie cast is something she still misses.
“It was so exciting as a child,” she said. “Being a northerner, Coronation Street is such a huge deal. I remember how proud my nanna and auntie were that I was on it. It felt like such a special and big thing, and it was incredible.”
“I had my first proper kiss on screen. So many memorable moments, from filming different episodes to those late-night shoots. I feel so lucky to have those memories. A lot of it was working with Kevin and Sally and doing all those storylines. Looking back, it was pretty magical, and it really shaped my life.”
In 2006, Helen was nominated for Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress at the British Soap Awards. Two years later, she earned another nomination for Villain of the Year. She’s also been in the running for Sexiest Female four times.
