Michael Easton Pays Tribute to His GH Leading Ladies

Michael Easton’s recent departure from General Hospital has given him time to reflect on his 12-year tenure on the show. After his character, Finn, entered rehab and his storyline wrapped up in late June, Easton has been looking back on his time in Port Charles with fondness. He has shared heartfelt tributes to his three leading ladies: Finola Hughes (Anna), Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth), and Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden).

On social media, Easton expressed his gratitude and appreciation for his co-stars, highlighting the strong bonds and memorable moments they shared on set. His tributes were touching, recognizing the significant impact each actress had on his character’s journey and his experience on the show.

Easton’s departure marks the end of an era for General Hospital fans who have followed his character’s ups and downs, relationships, and dramatic storylines over the years. His reflections and tributes have resonated with viewers, who are also reminiscing about the many memorable scenes and connections Finn had with Anna, Elizabeth, and Hayden.

Michael Easton recently shared a heartfelt message on social media reflecting on his departure from General Hospital and expressing his gratitude to his co-stars. He wrote, “I’ve always felt that if you’re ever fortunate to be recognized for a performance, the true credit goes to the actor you’re sharing the scene with. I’ve benefited from working with some of the best, but over the past nine years, three actors got stuck working with me more than all others and I would like to thank Rebecca, Becky, and Finola for putting up with me. I am a better actor and person for the time I spent sharing the stage with each of you and I am forever grateful.”

This tribute underscores the deep appreciation he has for his colleagues Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden), Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth), and Finola Hughes (Anna). Easton’s words highlight the collaborative nature of acting and the significant impact his co-stars had on his growth both as an actor and as a person.

Michael Easton continued his farewell tour on Instagram by individually thanking and complimenting each actress he worked closely with during his time on General Hospital. He started with Finola Hughes, sharing a video of his favorite scenes with each woman.

Regarding Hughes, he wrote, “Finola is truly iconic, but also an incredibly compassionate actor who is intensely present in every scene. I chose this clip because all Anna and Finn had done up to this point was some witty banter, but this seemed like the moment that they stopped and truly saw each other and was the foundation upon which their relationship was built. Finola could teach a masterclass on how to carry yourself on and off the stage.”

Easton’s words highlighted Hughes’s remarkable talent and professionalism, acknowledging her pivotal role in crafting the dynamic between their characters and the valuable lessons she imparted through her conduct and performance.

Michael Easton continued his heartfelt tributes with a post dedicated to Rebecca Herbst, sharing his favorite memory of her: the scene where Finn confessed his love for Elizabeth. He wrote, “Becky is one of those incredibly rare actors that can tell entire stories in their eyes. I like this scene because without saying a word you know that she’s feeling something, but we never know exactly what it is, and we can’t look away from her. So much inner power beyond her beauty.”

Easton’s appreciation for Herbst emphasized her exceptional ability to convey complex emotions through subtle expressions, highlighting the depth and intensity she brought to their scenes together. His words captured the profound impact of her performance and the captivating presence she maintained on screen.

Michael Easton’s final tribute was for Rebecca Budig, focusing on their last scenes together in 2017. He shared his admiration for her talent and highlighted a poignant moment from their characters’ farewell. Easton wrote, “Rebecca is an amazing actor with deep soulful eyes that you can get lost in. This was the goodbye scene between Finn and Hayden and Rebecca’s ability to show her pain and vulnerability in one moment and then shift her resolve and be able to walk away from everything in her life is so incredibly heartbreaking to watch. I am in awe of her talent.”

He also mentioned her short film, “About a Girl,” which Budig wrote about her struggles with postpartum depression and Easton directed, adding, “And if you bother her enough, she might release About a Girl, and you’ll be blown away by her performance.”

Easton’s tribute to Budig not only praised her acting skills but also acknowledged her creative work outside of General Hospital, reflecting his deep respect and admiration for her as an artist and individual.

Michael Easton first joined General Hospital in 2012 after the cancellation of One Life to Live, bringing his beloved Llanview character, John McBain, to Port Charles. However, due to legal issues surrounding the character, the show was forced to write him out. In response, a new role was created for him, and Easton returned as Dr. Silas Clay. He played Silas until the character was killed off in 2015. Easton made his third return to General Hospital in March 2016, this time as Dr. Hamilton Finn.
