“Holly” and Joe Wicks, two new characters who appeared in Monday’s episode, leaving EastEnders viewers a little perplexed. But who are they?
After a recent sequence with David Wicks in the BBC One soap opera EastEnders, viewers were left wondering who the enigmatic “Holly” was.
Additionally, Joe—a character who was once on the show—who is connected to David and his daughter Bianca Jackson was mentioned.
As Bianca’s condition worsened and her friend Kat Slater pushed David to seek Bianca out, David was doing his best to support her. As David made a deal with Reiss Colwell to leave Walford for a bit, amid Bianca trying to show he killed his wife Debbie, he ended up pushing Bianca apart further.
She blasted him for failing to support her during her recent difficult times after he had been gone for some time. In light of Freddie Slater’s suggestion that she might have ADHD, David stated he was here for her right now and wanted to support her. He was obviously concerned for her mental health.
However, in his conversation with Bianca, David mentioned Joe Wicks, her sibling, and his son. Fans soon began to speculate about the identity of someone else who was mentioned in the show but about whom they were unaware.
David is connected to a mysterious figure known only as Holly, who he appears to be avoiding. He snubbed a call from her on his phone on Monday (October 7), leaving fans all asking the same thing.
A commenter questioned, “WHO is Holly?” as someone enquired, “WHO IS HOLLY?” Some people speculate as to who they believe it might be, asking questions like “Is she a new character?”
According to a different opinion, it can be his new lover or a person connected to Joe. A fan speculated: “Probably an ex/current girlfriend or wife, that or she’s the wife of Joe Wicks (David’s son/Bianca’s brother) as he’s been mentioned.”
Joe Wicks is the brother of Bianca and the son of David, as was previously mentioned. The actor Paul Nicholls played him when he was a guest on the show in the past.
In the most recent episode, David mentioned that Joe couldn’t seem to let things go, which prompted Bianca to call him out. “Why are you talking about Joe?” she cried out. Do you believe I have schizophrenia?
Bianca was alluding to a significant plot point in the former character’s struggle with mental illness following the passing of his sister Karen. He was diagnosed with the illness following unusual behavior, and tragically, he made an attempt on his own life.
A year after making his debut, in 1997, Joe moved out of Walford with his mother Lorraine. When David returned in 2012 to bid farewell to his dying mother Pat Butcher, he made mention of him.
While it was eventually disclosed that David had lost contact with his son, Joe was mentioned as having a girlfriend who had two kids. It’s unclear if he and Joe are still on speaking terms after all these years. Fans can’t help but speculate whether a comeback is imminent given the mention of him.
