Coronation Street: Who actually owns the Platt house and how many bedrooms are there? Mystery solved

How are more bedrooms added?

As the Platt family looks to the future, the Coronation Street home they have owned since 1991 is now formally for sale.

No. 8 Coronation Street, which has long been a Platt family residence, is up for sale as Gail attempts to raise the money needed to pay Bethany’s high medical expenses following a disastrous surgery in Turkey.

Fans have frequently questioned how many bedrooms soap operas feature since the characters are known for housing multiple people in one home. And who is the real owner of the house?

Now that the TARDIS house mystery has been resolved,

Coronation Street: Platt house rundown

When Maurice Jones developed a number of new houses on the site of the former factory and community center, the residence was first displayed. In 1991, Gail made her initial purchase with her now-ex-husband, Martin Platt.

Soon after their wedding, they acquired the house and raised their family there. After paying an astounding £38,000 for it at the time, they moved in with their three kids, Nick, Sarah, and David.

No. 8 has witnessed a number of intriguing events, such as teenage pregnancies, sultry liaisons, and even attempted murder. When Nick finally left Weatherfield in 1999, he moved out of the house.

Gail later remained in her 2001 house with her kids after a tumultuous divorce from her second husband, Martin. Following Martin’s extramarital romance with Rebecca Hopkins, love was not entirely lost. No. 8 also became the address of future husbands, including Joe McIntyre and Richard Hillman.

Up until 2013, when con artist Lewis Archer stole all of Gail’s money, she was the owner. Then, thanks to a loan from Audrey, David and his spouse Kylie became the proprietors.

The house is still occupied by the family because Gail purchased it at auction back in 2021. David was forced to sell up by Ray Crosby, another scam artist, because he was unable to pay the insurance gap. The family was scared when a sinkhole suddenly formed in their garden not long before.

Furthermore, in a manhole beneath the land, the body of Max’s biological father, Callum Logan, has been concreted over. The house has seen a lot of activity, as we mentioned.

The cozy home is now occupied by Gail, David, his wife Shona, his stepson Max Turner, and daughter Lily. After having an affair with his wife’s sister, Toyah Battersby, brother Nick has been making out on their couch more frequently lately.

We’re curious in how everyone fits in with that many residents. Fans have been asking this subject a lot on social media, claiming that there must be countless hidden rooms inside. After Gail’s ownership was stated in yesterday night’s show (Wednesday, October 16), others are unsure of who owns the property, forgetting that she purchased it back from David a few years prior.

“I thought David already owned the house?” a user from X said. Another person said, “I believe it went back and forth a few times.”

Another person said, “David, you have paid for and purchased the house years ago! Did the authors truly believe that the readers would forget?

The future of the house

As far as we know, there isn’t a formal floor layout. We do know, though, that Shona and David use the remodeled basement as a bedroom. Gail has her own bedroom upstairs, while Lily and Max share a bedroom. There are three bedrooms on the home, one of which has been refurbished, so guests must stay on the sofa.

Fortunately, Sarah now owns her own apartment. Before Damon was imprisoned, she briefly shared it with her ex-boyfriend Adam and then with her current partner.

Carla has been looking at the property and may submit an offer soon. Will the nearly 35 years of Platt residencies come to an end because of her plans?

Or will David persuade her to quit because he fears he and his family might become lost?
