Sydney Martin, a cast member of Coronation Street, has presented an eight-word query to viewers who believe they have uncovered Betsy Swain’s most recent scheme. The actress, who plays DS Lisa Swain’s daughter, only recently joined the ITV serial opera and is already enmeshed in the drama.
During the summer, Sydney made an appearance in the show and was just mentioned as Sabrina Adetiba’s friend. However, it wasn’t until much later that it was established that she was indeed Betsy, as Joel Deering, the serial groomer, swiftly got involved.
Following the discovery of Joel’s body, a murder inquiry has been launched; however, Betsy’s mother has been removed from the case following the discovery by Swain’s associate Kit Green of the solicitor’s texts in which he threatened to kill the teenager.
In the Corrie episode that aired on Monday, October 14, viewers witnessed three boys near a riverside noticing a body floating in the water. Soon after, DS Lisa Swain and Kit Green were approached by PC Craig Tinker, who informed them that they had located Joel’s body.
After breaking the news to others like Lauren and Dee-Dee, Kit was the one to confirm Joel had drowned, which escalated the case into a murder inquiry.
When Kit and Lisa went to the cobblestones on Wednesday, October 16, he informed Lisa that Joel had died from two blows to the head from a heavy object, most likely a crowbar.
After learning this, Lisa was horrified to learn from Yasmeen Metcalfe that Mason Radcliffe had a crowbar, which is why she had thrown him out. After encouraging Kit to follow up on the potential lead, Swain returned to the station. Later, Kit saw the teen in the act of disposing of the tool in a bin.
Hauled in for interrogation, Kit questioned Mason, who acknowledged that on the night Joel was killed, he was squatting in Speed Daal by himself and had thrown out the crowbar after declining to carry out a burglary for his brothers. They contended that Mason could have done it because of his friendship with Betsy.
Even though Mason claimed not to care for Betsy, a flashback tape showed Betsy visiting Mason when she was crying and afraid Joel would follow her, before Mason promised to protect her. This proved the Weatherfield High bully wasn’t telling the truth.
“Would Mason go that far to protect Betsy?” Sydney posed in a post from Corrie’s official Instagram page after the scenes. including an emoji of a crushed heart.
However, some fans firmly believe Betsy is to blame for Joel’s passing. According to @sam_farmer2, “Betsy killed him.” @lizhodgkinson made the following comment: “I think it might be Betsy or Ronnie.” “I think Ronnie murdered Joel, or it could have been Betsy,” wrote @gregayala0010. “People are overlooking how Swain felt sick and in pain a couple weeks ago,” @jonathondexter94 continued.Perhaps Betsy killed Joel to defend herself from an attack, and Swain dumped the body.
