Bruce Jones, the former star of Coronation Street best known for playing Les Battersby, received word via email lately that his beloved character will be killed off, despite the fact that he left the serial opera 17 years ago.
Before leaving the soap in 2007, Bruce spent ten years playing the flamboyant Les.
An upcoming episode of Corrie will confirm Les Battersby’s death, and his on-screen children, Leanne and Toyah, will be informed of their father’s demise.
The actor who portrayed Battersby’s spouse Janice verified how Bruce learned of Les’s demise on X.
In response to a fan of the soap opera on the site, Vicky Entwhistle said, “I know, Bruce told me a couple of months ago after receiving an email.”
Following claims that Jones got intoxicated with an undercover reporter, insulted fans, and disclosed plot elements, Bruce’s character was unexpectedly taken off of Coronation Street.
The actor has been wishing ever since that he will be asked to return to the show at some point.
The character’s passing felt like a “huge snub” to the actor and to devoted soap opera viewers, according to a source.
“It’s a huge snub to kill off a popular character like this,” a source told the Mirror. Les is one of the most recognizable characters from The Street that Bruce created, and he’s always dreamed of coming back.

At the height of his Coronation Street stardom, Bruce made £140,000 a year and amassed over £1 million during his tenure on the show.
Nevertheless, the actor disclosed that he had experienced financial difficulties in 2015.
Bruce spent his fortune and at one point had just £14 in his possession, leaving him on benefits.
