Coronation Street: What exactly did happen to Gail’s husbands? Here’s how they all died (and the one who survived)

She’s had some heartache.

Gail Platt, a character on Coronation Street, has undoubtedly had her share of spouses after 50 years on the cobbles.

Specifically, five. Gail is undoubtedly cursed in the area of love, having experienced both genuine and fake deaths as well as heart attacks.

Who were her husbands, though? What became of them? We revisit Weatherfield’s response to Henry VIII.

1. Coronation Street: Gail and Brian Tilsley

Given her past, Gail’s first marriage lasted an impressive nine years, which is rather good. Between 1979 and 1987, she was wed to Brian.

Although he was Gail’s first love, things weren’t always ideal with old Brian.

After the couple experienced financial difficulties, Gail began an affair with Ian Latimer, Brian’s cousin, in order to relieve some of the stress in her life. Keeping it in the family is very important.

Gail became pregnant with Sarah Platt as a result of this romance. Since she was unable to identify the father, she told Brian the truth. This was a major shock to living rooms across the nation in the 1980s.

Later, in 1987, Gail and Brian got divorced. Their temporary reconciliation was short-lived, though, since in 1988, Darren Whateley attacked Brian outside a nightclub.

2. Coronation Street: Gail and Martin Platt

Gail’s permanent last name is revealed here. Originally a Potter, she changed her name as a result of her several marriages.

Gail needed almost a year to recover from the blow of Brian’s passing. To the Street’s astonishment, she moved on to Martin Platt in 1989.

At first, there were a lot of strange looks because Gail was ten years older than Martin. After being married in 1990, they were able to stay together for ten years.

David was welcomed into the family by the couple here. However, they faced several difficulties, such as Sarah being pregnant with Bethany at the age of 13.

They overcame numerous obstacles, but when Martin caught sight of Gail’s close friend Rebecca Hopkins, they broke up. Gail went to the divorce attorney after Martin had an affair with the nurse. Simply put, they weren’t meant to be.

3. Richard Hillman

The name Richard Hillman makes any soap opera lover shudder. Despite Gail’s reputation for poor pairings, this one is by far the worst.

In 2002, Gail fell deeply in love with Richard’s smooth talker charm. However, the financial advisor’s talk did not align with his aims.

Richard was killed. He murdered Patricia Hillman, his ex-wife, and hairstylist Maxine Peacock. Additionally, Richard allowed Duggie Ferguson, his business partner, to perish after he fell down a banister. What a horrible piece of work he was.

When Richard attempted to drive himself and the rest of the family into the canal in 2003, the marriage came to an end. Their marriage ended when Richard became the sole one to pass away.

4. Joe McIntyre

Gail took a vacation from love after her near-death experience, which makes sense. Gail fell in love with Joe McIntyre, another attractive man, a few years later.

Joe also included Tina McIntyre, his daughter and a favorite character from the soap opera, in the discussion. To add to the awkwardness, David and Tina were also in a relationship.

As it happens, Joe wasn’t particularly kind either. Joe framed Gail for his murder and staged his own death a month after their wedding.

Gail was widowed again after Joe committed suicide, even though she was found not guilty. Gail doesn’t had much luck, as we mentioned.

5. Michael Rodwell

Michael, who also caused Gail some grief, will undoubtedly be remembered by fans.

They were married in 2015, however their union was short-lived as Michael passed away from a heart attack brought on by Pat Phelan, one of Corrie’s villains.

Long live the rivalry between Gail and Eileen.

Perhaps wisely, Gail has remained unmarried ever since. But may we see another romance developing now that Jesse Chadwick, the new “friend,” is in the picture?
