ITV Coronation Street star shares soap ‘crossover’ as he reveals BBC EastEnders link

In a humorous social media post, Coronation Street star Gareth Pierce revealed an unexpected connection to EastEnders villain Dean Wicks actor Matt Di Angelo.

Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw on Coronation Street, has made a shocking connection to a major EastEnders villain.

The 43-year-old actor, who has played Todd on the Cobbles since 2020, revealed on social media Thursday that, despite their roles on competing serial operas, he is good friends with Matt Di Angelo, star of Dean Wicks on EastEnders.

Gareth posted a series of pictures of himself and Matt, 37, in London on Instagram. “Todd Grimshaw & Dean Wicks in the Big City™️” he wrote. “A trip to watch Steve Coogan in @drstrangelovehq #corrie #eastenders #crossover #friendship #textyourmate” and lots of fun with the main character @mattdiangelo Tacos & pink gin in a cathedral @mercatometropolitano.”

One of Gareth’s 53.5K followers immediately commented, “Have a fabulous time!” Another user said, “Two of my faves!” “Hope you both have the best time!” was remarked by another, according to Liverpool Echo.

In 2016, the two actors collaborated on the television series Ordinary Lies, in which Matt played Fletch and Gareth played Karl Sheldon. As part of the dramatic The Six Christmas whodunit, Matt made a spectacular comeback to EastEnders last year. The actor departed the BBC One serial opera last month when his character, Dean, was falsely accused of killing Keanu Taylor when Linda Carter was the real murderer.

But after Dean confessed to raping Linda during a heated court hearing, the case collapsed, and the evidence required that the trial be dismissed. With a farewell social media message, EastEnders confirmed that Dean has departed the BBC One soap opera and is currently serving time in prison.

Actor Matt stated in a charming video: “This is it. The last scene filmed of Dean. signed. sealed. delivered. It’s finished. “I just wanted to say a huge, huge thank you to Matt for giving us one of the most vile characters, one of the most hated characters in Britain and on British TV,” Chris Clenshaw, who plays the role in EastEnders, continued. We appreciate your return and the continuation of Dean’s narrative.

“Even though I think Dean’s finally got his comeuppance, I have a strange feeling that this won’t be the last we ever see of Dean, or in fact you,” Chris hinted, suggesting that Dean might return. And thanks for taking the character in such a positive manner and for being a pleasure to work with. We owe you a great deal.
