EastEnders icon has one of most famous brothers in world who helped her bag huge acting role

Despite having a well-known sibling who helped her earn her first significant acting role, EastEnders star Laila Morse is best recognized for her role as Mo Harris on the BBC soap opera.

An EastEnders legend has revealed how her famous brother helped her succeed in the acting industry.

On the Square, Laila Morse is well-known for playing the brazen Mo Harris since 2000. She has become a ‘genuine’ Walford legend as the fierce matriarch of the Slater family.

However, many have been shocked to learn that Laila’s brother, A-list actor Gary Oldman, is not the only famous person in the family.

With parts in blockbusters like Sid and Nancy, Immortal Beloved, Dracula by Bram Stoker, and as the wizard Sirius Black in Harry Potter, Gary has really taken off.

But according to the Manchester Evening News, Laila began her acting career at the ripe age of 51, and she has always praised her brother for helping her land her first part in the 1997 movie Nil By Mouth.

In an interview with the Loose Women panel, she disclosed: “Nil by Mouth was written and directed by my elder brother. All he wanted was something unadulterated. He simply said, “she could do that,” while he was with a friend. I simply stared at him and thought, “What?” I am unable to accomplish it.

“I did what he suggested, and he said, ‘You’re doing it.’ Come back to the hotel and read a little. I had never done anything like that before.

In 2018, the close-knit sibling pair spent Christmas Day together at Gary’s California apartment. The family was beaming for the camera during a sit-down lunch in these cute photos shared by Gary’s other half Giselle Schmidt. Another photo showed Laila preparing a “proper English Christmas dinner” for the group to eat.

The two had a great time in Las Vegas in 2021. She posted a picture of herself and Gary to Instagram with the remark, “Throwback to our trip to Las Vegas.”
