How Helen Worth will leave Coronation Street as Gail Christmas exit ‘revealed’

Gail is leaving, but in what way?

After 50 years of portraying cobbles royalty Gail Platt, Coronation Street veteran Helen Worth is departing Weatherfield, according to a statement made by soap opera executives earlier this year.

Although the specifics of her departure are being kept under wraps, she is scheduled to depart this Christmas.

However, how was Gail able to quit the soap opera? Here is what we currently know.

Coronation Street reveals Gail ‘exit’

“Gail has provided us with endless hours of entertainment, but it should also be said that Helen herself is a consummate professional and a thoroughly good egg,” executive producer Iain Macleod stated earlier this year.

“We wish her all the best for the future and know that everyone involved in the show will miss having her around as much as the viewers will miss having her on their screens.”

However, how will Helen be doing specifically?

Happy ending at last for Gail?

The soap opera has promised Gail “a happy ending,” as Helen has already filmed her last scenes in the role.

It’s past time for Gail to have a happy ending after fifty years of sorrow and heartache. Gail endured a great deal of suffering as a result of signature storylines, which included her marriage to serial killer Richard Hillman, her husband Joe’s murder, and even her son David throwing her down the stairs when he was at his worst.

Gail didn’t find out that her own brother, Stephen, was a serial killer until last year. In more humorous tales, she got into a fight with her neighbor Eileen Grimshaw and fell for a nefarious burglar named Michael, who was portrayed by, well, Les Dennis.

Gail has earned a contented retirement away from Weatherfield after all of this.

A final Christmas in Weatherfield

We are aware that Gail is currently engaged to Jesse Chadwick and is working hard to get married to him soon.

Gail’s last scenes this Christmas are going to be bittersweet, even though it’s unknown if she will truly say “I do” this time. Will Jesse accompany her as she leaves the street, though?

“We can’t tell a story on Christmas Day about her exit without it being steeped in nostalgia, and there’s tons of that in this episode: hopefully people will be crying, laughing, gasping, and sitting back afterwards and feeling that it was just what they needed,” Corrie producer Kate Brooks told the Metro.
