ITV Coronation Street Max star’s next role ‘sealed’ after exit and ‘it’s on rival soap’

Coronation Street star Paddy Bever may be preparing to join a rival soap following his dramatic departure.

Paddy Bever, known for his portrayal of Max Turner on Coronation Street, may be poised for a major switch to a rival soap. Paddy first appeared on the cobbles in 2021 as the son of the late Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) and has been involved in several intense storylines.

In 2022, his character was manipulated by far-right extremists, and last year, Max tried to take the fall for Joel Dommett’s (Calum Lill) murder to protect his girlfriend Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Most recently, Max resorted to extreme measures, setting the Platt house on fire to settle a debt with gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).

This led to Max’s arrest and a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence, marking Paddy’s exit from the show. Earlier this year, Paddy revealed he was leaving Coronation Street to “explore new opportunities,” calling it “an incredibly difficult decision.”

Now that Max is locked up, Paddy might be heading to Emmerdale, with Betway offering odds of 12/1 for his potential move. However, it’s not just a new soap on the horizon for Paddy.

Betway’s Mike Reading commented: “Paddy Bever’s departure from Coronation Street has shocked fans, making his next move a highly anticipated topic.”

He teasingly suggested more news was on the way, saying, “With the full line-up yet to be revealed, Paddy’s exit might lead him to join this year’s I’m A Celebrity cast (4/1), or there’s also the possibility of him appearing on Celebrity Great British Bake Off, which is priced at 6/1.”

However, Reading also shared an intriguing tidbit: “Given Paddy’s popularity and talent – which earned him the Rising Star award at the NTAs in 2022 – another role in soapland isn’t entirely off the table. He could potentially land a role in Emmerdale (12/1), especially with the Dales going through a casting shake-up as several long-time stars exit the show.”

Dom Aldworth from Slingo also shared his thoughts on Paddy’s future, noting that he has a promising career ahead. “Considering how well he’s impressed Coronation Street fans with his portrayal of Max, it seems likely that continuing his successful soap career could be a natural next move.”

Aldworth even suggested a particular direction for Bever’s talents: “His youthful energy could make him a great fit for Hollyoaks, where he could bring depth to their dynamic and dramatic storylines, an area where he’s already proven his strength.”
