On Friday’s episode of Coronation Street, fans witnessed Carla Connor and Peter Barlow’s divorce, leaving them in tears.
On Friday night, Coronation Street viewers were devastated to learn that one of their favorite soap opera couples had officially called it quits.
When Ryan Connor brought Carla Connor a formal letter at the factory in the most recent episode, her response made clear how serious the contents were.
Later on in the episode, DS Lisa Swain was contacted by a worried Ryan who had chosen to look into Carla’s strange behavior. This led to a heartbreaking discovery.
Ryan found out that the letter included Carla’s final divorce decree from Peter Barlow. At first, Carla was upset that Ryan had read her private correspondence, violating her right to privacy. She did, however, later admit that it had surprised her greatly to receive formal notice of her divorce.
Tears were shed by fans on Twitter, now X, as one user wrote: “Carla and Peter are divorced. #Corrie” with an accompanying emoji of a grieving woman. According to the Liverpool Echo, one person said, “I didn’t even know that Carla and Peter were getting divorced #Corrie,” while another stated, “Carla and Peter are divorced #Corrie”.
Another viewer of the soap opera commented, “Peter and Carla’s divorce has finalized. accompanied by the heart emoji, “#Corrie #CoronationStreet @itvcorrie.”
Actor Chris Gascoyne, who has been bowing out the cobbles for 23 years, left Weatherfield and his wife Carla to work on a boat, leaving fans of the soap opera in tears over Christmas.
In the meantime, Carla and DS Swain will light up Coronation Street next week as they have a sweet moment. Carla is left feeling perplexed by what happened, but did Lisa also experience it? If so, what does that mean for the two of them?
Star of Carla Alison King discussed the plot, saying, “I’m loving working with Vicky [Myers], who plays DS Swain; she’s very talented and an absolute trooper.” I’m glad to see their friendship blossoming since it’s revealing a more vulnerable aspect of both of them than just two incredibly tough ladies.
“Rather than everything being mixed with guys, it’s good to see Carla opening out to another woman. Suddenly, she is surrounded by someone who truly understands her. At home, she and Ryan share a closeness and playful banter, but with Lisa, she may reveal the vulnerability that she frequently conceals. In that sense, they are completely different from one other, which is why Lisa finds it endearing even though she takes it so seriously.”
Regarding Carla’s perplexity, she continued, “I believe that this friendship is taking her by surprise at every turn. Carla feels a sense of concern for them, although she sometimes struggles to identify what is causing it.”
