Coronation Street: Seb visions need to be post-watershed, fans blast

Has the soap taken things too far?

Fans of Coronation Street have slammed the soap for last night’s scenes, where a ghostly Seb Franklin appeared to haunt his traumatised mother Abi. The unsettling visions, which occurred during Abi’s ongoing PTSD breakdown, left viewers shocked, especially since they aired before the watershed.

This comes after Mason’s death, which stirred painful memories for Abi of her late son, Seb. She had found Mason close to death after he was stabbed by his brothers. Despite her efforts to save him, Mason passed away.

In the weeks since, Abi’s mental state has deteriorated. She’s been seeing disturbing visions of Seb and acting out towards those around her. This continued last night (Wednesday, January 29) when Seb made another eerie appearance.

On her way to support Kevin at his hospital appointment, Abi was diverted after passing the playground where she discovered Mason bleeding out. There, she saw an apparition of Seb glaring at her from the wall, causing her trauma to resurface.

Chilling scenes… maybe a bit too much for pre-watershed?

Coronation Street fans horrified by ‘terrifying’ Seb

Fans flocked to social media as these scenes aired, sharing their opinions on Abi’s latest haunting. Many felt it was “a bit too intense” for the ITV soap.

“Seb looks terrifying. This should’ve aired after the watershed,” said one fan.

“When did #Corrie become a horror movie? This Abi and Seb storyline is a bit much, don’t you think?” asked another.

“Seeing Seb back, beaten up as a figment of Abi’s mind, is pretty unsettling,” commented a third.

Has Corrie crossed the line?

What happened to Seb on Coronation Street?

Abi’s son, Seb, was tragically killed after he and his girlfriend Nina Lucas were attacked by Corey Brent’s gang. Seb succumbed to his injuries the following day, leaving Nina devastated and Abi utterly heartbroken.

Since then, Abi has tried to move on from this unimaginable loss, but her past was painfully brought back when she found Mason dying in the playground. Will Nina be able to get the support she requires?
